Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is managing and controlling one’s emotions. This study examined the relationship between EQ and aggressive behaviours and the implications on counselling help-seeking among late adolencents. This study used the Schutte Self Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) to measure the level of emotional intelligence and the Aggression Questionnaire to measure the level of aggressive behaviours. A total of 403 respondents were randomly selected to answer the questionnaire distributed. This study found that there was a significant relationship between EQ and aggressive behaviours among the respondents was positively correlated. The dimension of motivating negative emotions was the highest dimension influencing aggressive behaviours. Environmental factors may be the leading cause for the finding of a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and respondents’ aggressive behaviours. Counselling help-seeking behaviours may also be a salient variable to be measured among the respondents in the future, to ensure the optimum usage of guidance and counselling unit will remain relevant for the school ecosystem and education realm.
