The historical experience of Córdoba in al-Andalus demonstrates the close relationship between education, knowledge institutions and the development of a flourishing intellectual environment. This paper narrows that civilisational insight to one central issue: how Islamic social finance can support educational transformation through the existing institutional relationship between Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (UniSHAMS). The paper proposes that the contribution of Islamic social finance should be evaluated not only through the amount of assistance distributed, but also through the educational and human-capital outcomes generated from that assistance. Drawing on Maqasid al-Shariah, Human Capital Theory and Islamic Social Finance perspectives, the study develops a focused conceptual pathway from educational zakat to access, retention, graduation, employability and socioeconomic empowerment. Waqf, sadaqah and qard hasan are positioned as complementary instruments rather than substitutes for zakat, with each retaining its own Shariah and governance characteristics. LZNK–UniSHAMS is used as an illustrative institutional case because education is already incorporated within LZNK's distribution ecosystem and institutional links exist between the two organisations. The paper contributes a focused ISF–Educational Transformation Framework and a set of propositions for future empirical testing. The proposed framework provides a practical basis for moving from educational assistance towards measurable educational empowerment within the longer-term Cordoba of Kedah 2050 vision.
