The innovation of Ideological and Political Education (IPE) in higher education requires the integration of diverse cultural resources. The study constructs a conceptual framework to explore the integration of Chinese Sportsmanship (CS) into university IPE, addressing three core research questions. First, it identifies and systematizes four core dimensions of CS suitable for IPE: patriotic dedication, perseverance, solidarity, and fair play. Second, it reveals the theoretical mediation mechanism, demonstrating that CS-integrated IPE fosters students’ ideological identity through a serial mediation pathway: sports narratives first stimulate students’ learning engagement, which subsequently cultivates their psychological resilience. Third, to effectively ope-rationalize this integration, the study proposes an innovative pedagogical framework encompassing goal reshaping, content reconstruction, methodological innovation, and evaluation transformation, underpinned by equitable resource allocation. By moving beyond traditional linear educational models, the study provides a novel theoretical paradigm for understanding value internalization and offers a practical blueprint for pedagogical reform in contemporary higher education.
