Undergraduate vocational education is a key factor in preparing learners with occupation-specific skills in response to the changing labour market conditions. Although there is extensive policy focus on it in China, there is very little empirical research on the type of institutional and instructional issues that influence the quality of programs, in provincial settings like Jiangxi. This paper examines four factors which contribute to the quality of vocational education such as the alignment of the curriculum to industry standards, the competence of the instructors, the partnership between the institutions and the employers, and student engagement among 472 undergraduate students studying vocational programs in Jiangxi. The quantitative survey design, which involved the usage of the structured five-point Likert-scale tool, was chosen, and the data were analysed with the help of Pearson correlation and simple linear regression in SPSS. High internal consistency was established in the reliability test and Cronbachs alpha has a range of 0.86 to 0.92. The results show that all the four variables have statistically significant positive effects on the quality of the program. The most useful predictor was learner involvement (r = .960), then institutional-employer collaboration (b =.931), curriculum alignment (r =.929), and instructor competence(b =.869). These findings demonstrate the relationship between determinants of quality in vocational education and suggest the necessity of concerted efforts in program development, teacher training, and stakeholder involvement. The research paper provides a contribution to region-specific research on the enhancement of vocational education and has practical policy implications on institutional leaders and policymakers in Jiangxi and similar developing situations.
