This article examines the general and specific objectives (maq??id) underlying the legislation of the rights of non-Muslims in Islamic jurisprudence and analyses their impact on sustainable development. It highlights key objectives that regulate the treatment of non-Muslims across major spheres of life, drawing on Qur’anic texts, prophetic practice, and classical and contemporary juristic writings. The study seeks to refute accusations that Islam denies rights to non-Muslims, to demonstrate that Islam calls for cooperation and coexistence without compromising fundamental principles, and to show how these objectives support social cohesion and inclusive development. Using a descriptive–analytical approach, it concludes that Islamic law articulates both general and specific objectives concerning non-Muslims, such as inviting them to God with wisdom, ensuring justice and equality in citizenship, guaranteeing religious freedom, and permitting lawful socio-economic interaction, which collectively contribute to sustainable community development.
