This article examines contemporary usury in commercial banking and its impact on livelihoods and moral life in Muslim societies. It aims to clarify the Islamic legal ruling on bank interest, address modern doubts that are used to justify it, and demonstrate that usury is a major cause of contemporary financial crises and a source of the loss of blessings in wealth. Using inductive and analytical methods, the study traces Qur’anic and prophetic evidence, reviews the positions of classical jurists and contemporary fiqh councils, and analyses the economic, psychological, and moral consequences of the usurious system. The findings confirm that bank interest constitutes prohibited usury by consensus, erodes blessings, concentrates wealth, fuels financial instability, and corrodes the ethical fabric of individuals and communities.
