TikTok has emerged as one of the most influential social media platforms, gaining widespread popularity among Malaysian users. Its algorithm-driven content delivery system has significantly shaped user engagement, particularly in the realm of film reviews. This qualitative study examines the influence of and expectations for film reviews on TikTok among Malaysian audiences, with a specific focus on individuals aged 18 and above who actively engage with such content. The study employs thematic analysis to explore the influence of and expectations for film reviews on TikTok among Malaysians. By capturing diverse perspectives, this research provides insights into the role of TikTok in shaping public discourse on films. The findings contribute to the growing scholarship on TikTok’s impact in Malaysia, particularly in digital media consumption.
