The Innovation of Chinese Goddess FEI Tian Art Characters on Textile Scarf Design

Open access
This study investigates the incorporation of Chinese cultural elements, specifically the Feitian art characters, into textile scarf design, aiming to assess their impact and significance. The Feitian, originally a symbol in Buddhist art, has evolved into a cultural icon in Chinese heritage, embodying elements of Chinese, Indian, and Western cultures. However, limited research exists on how Feitian imagery is integrated into textile scarf design. This study addresses this gap by examining the role of Feitian-inspired designs in scarf production and their reception in the market, particularly focusing on visual appeal and cultural significance. Using quantitative analysis, including correlation and ANOVA, alongside qualitative insights, the study identifies the importance of Feitian art in scarf design, particularly in appealing to traditional aesthetics and cultural preferences. Results indicate a moderate agreement among participants regarding the significance of cultural elements in scarf design, with visual attraction and traditional elements being key factors influencing consumer choices. Gender differences in preference and purchasing behavior further highlight the nuanced dynamics of cultural elements in scarf design. The findings suggest opportunities for cultural advancement in the textile industry through the incorporation of Feitian-inspired designs, catering to both traditional and modern style preferences. Moreover, the study emphasizes the importance of continued investigation into the cultural dynamics of scarf design, facilitating a deeper understanding of cultural heritage and aesthetic preferences.
