The School Environmental Education Programmes as an Indicator of Social Interest for the Quality of Marine Environment

Open access
?his paper refers to Environmental Education in schools of Secondary Education of Western Attica. From the statistical processing of all the programmes implemented in the Secondary Education of Western Attica, it appears that only 6% of them concern the pollution of the Gulf of Elefsina, Lake Koumoundourou and the Bourkari habitat. It also appears that the number of programmes that have taken place in recent years is decreasing. To this end, it is proposed to have the number of programmes, related to pollution in the area, increased. It is also necessary to inform teachers through seminars, to include such actions in the framework of the national strategy for wetlands. In addition, there is a need to provide incentives for both teachers and students, such as the use of internet tools, in order to facilitate the implementation of these programmes.
