Promoting ‘Aimer Lire’ through Using Local Literature Material: A Proposed Program for Students of 5th and 6th Grades of Elementary School

This paper outlines a proposed program based on game-based activities that can be implemented within and outside the classroom or during a visit in a library, as multimodal activities help in the development of a relaxing and useful learning environment (Papadopoulos & Griva, 2016; Papadopoulos & Griva, 2014; Papadopoulos, 2014). The suggested duration is 6 teaching hours and it is addressed to students of the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school. The aim of the program is to help students realise that the reading process must be active and their work with the book should not be a stressful or coercive activity. The aim of the program is to reach the students close to the book, which is a major goal of ‘aimer lire’ through their contact with local literature and suggests the use of poems, literary texts and fairy tales from the literature of Larissa.
