Travelling around the World through the Fairy Tales: A Project of Developing Communication Skills and Multicultural Awareness in Kindergarten

Open access
The present project aimed at developing children’s verbal and nonverbal expression and strengthening their multicultural awareness in a multicultural story-based and cross curricular educational context. The project was organized in twenty interventions and was piloted with 14 infants, from February to May 2014. Courses were designed in the form of a ‘story-based’ mini syllabus, including common stories from all over the world and incorporated 70 games and activities. The results of the project showed the positive effect of story – based and game-based learning on children’s ability to communicate, create, express themselves, and become aware of different cultures.
