The present study sought to record teachers’ views on the Principal’s role in organizing training interventions for the professional development of the teaching staff. The sample consisted of 110 teachers teaching in elementary schools in the region of Thessaloniki. The results demonstrated that the majority of teachers consider their professional development to be very closely related to the training interventions organized by the Principal within the school unit. Additionally, Principals are considered to be effective in promoting staff’s professional development when they possess specific organizational and personal characteristics. Finally, our results indicated that certain personal and organizational factors influence teachers’ participation in training activities organized by the Principal.
